FISU Oceania is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Eric Michalak, our friend and colleague from New Caledonia. Eric Michalak was elected to the FISU Oceania Executive Committee in 2023 and has been involved with FISU Oceania since its establishment in 2008. He has been an advocate for youth and sport throughout his career and leaves a lasting legacy in New Caledonia and across the Pacific and French Territories.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of Eric’s passing. Eric was not only a respected colleague, but someone who genuinely believed in the power of university sport to bring people together, build friendships and create opportunities for young people.
“Erics passion for developing university sport in New Caledonia and across Oceania was evident in everything he did. His leadership, kindness and commitment earned the respect and friendship of everyone who had the privilege of working with him.
“On behalf of FISU Oceania, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Eric’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire university sport community in New Caledonia. His contribution to our movement has left a lasting legacy and he will be remembered with great respect and affection”
