International Day of University Sport

International Day of University Sport (IDUS) is held annually on 20 September.

Officially proclaimed by the United Nationals Education, Science and Culture Organisation (UNESCO), this event celebrates and recognises the contribution of university sport to individuals, universities and communities.

Celebrations are held locally at universities, nationally by National University Sport Federations, regionally across the whole of Oceania and globally through the FISU university sport network.

Each year, activities are held to celebrate this annual event and have included intervarsity sport events, workshops, seminars, social sport events, online sport quizzes and pop up sport activities on campus.

Oceania 2026 IDUS celebrations

In 2026, FISU Oceania will be joining thousands across the globe to celebrate IDUS on 20 September. We will once again hold our #LetsWalkOceania initiative with the aim to (virtually) walk around Oceania and each of our member countries. The idea is to engage as many people in university communities as possible to move more, get active and get outdoors whilst celebrating IDUS throughout the month of September.

Follow us on social media to keep up to date with our messages and all IDUS activities across Pacific university campuses each year.
