FISU Oceania is pleased to announce the recent signing of an MOU with the ASEAN University Sports Council. The MOU signing is another historical event for FISU Oceania as we extend our relationship to other university sport federations to provide more participation and leadership opportunities for Oceania university, tertiary and college students.
“This MOU signing will allow us to establish new relationships with university sport federations that have similar structures to many of our members in the Oceania region”, says Mr David Schmude, President of FISU Oceania. “By working together with the ASEAN University Sports Council, we will be able to extend our connections to benefit not only students but also universities. We look forward to working with our friends from the ASEAN University Sports Council and in delivering more event and education opportunities for students”, concluded Mr Schmude.
The key objectives of the MOU include:
- to work collaboratively on projects
- to share knowledge, research and training relating to university sport
- to provide participation opportunities in sporting tournaments
- to increase networks between universities in the Oceania and ASEAN regions
- to deliver joint events for students
The ASEAN University Sports Council was founded in 1980 to provide opportunities for ASEAN student-athletes to participate and compete in higher education sporting competitions. The ASEAN University Sports Council has 11 member countries from within the ASEAN region and has an established calendar of events including both sporting events and education programs.
