Monash University women win bronze at FISU World University 3x3 League; Southern Cross men finish credible 7th

The Monash University women's team have won bronze at the 2015 FISU World University 3x3 Basketball League in Xiamen, China.

Held over the weekend of the 9-11 October, the event attracted teams from all over the world with Australia and the Oceania Region being represented by Monash University and Souther Cross University (men).

Finishing their pool in second position after winning two from three match ups (only losing one game to eventual Gold medal winners from China), the Monash girls then went on to defeat UQAN Canada 14-11 in the quarter finals before being beaten 13-5 by PCCU Taipei in the semi's. Rallying after their semi-final loss, the girls dug deep to take the bronze medal from Peking University, China 13-6.

In the men's division, Southern Cross University finished the top of their pool with two from three wins. Up against Northumbria University, England in the quarter finals, the men unfortunately were defeated 19-8 to finish the tournament in seventh position.

Both teams played tremendous basketball and displayed great sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
