Australia holds regional university games
During the week of the 6 – 10 July 2014, Australian universities competed at one of three regional games, the Northern University Games (Sunshine Coast, Queensland), Eastern University Games (Newcastle, NSW) and the Southern University Games (Wodonga, Victoria).
 
Competition was fierce in all regions, with a number of events held as qualifying tournaments for the Australian University Games to be held in Sydney from 28 September to 3 October.
 
For the second year in a row, the Queensland University of Technology took out the Championship Honours in the Northern region, with the University of Newcastle awarded the Eastern University Games champions while La Trobe University secured top position in the South.
